Description

Celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States with a free showcase of one of its most iconic composers by the Maryland Winds. Join us for a free outdoor performance by the world class musicians of Maryland Winds as we celebrate 250 years since the founding of our nation! The Maryland Winds have put together a program that exmplifies the American spirit by focusing on legendary composer John Williams. You'll hear iconic works like Liberty Fanfare, the Men of the Yorktown March from Midway, the flute and piccolo feature from The Patriot, and the epic American Journey , written for the 2000 Millennium celebrations. In addition, we'll hear the works of a variety of American composers showing the evolution of music throughout America's lifetime. Relax with your friends and family and enjoy a beautiful evening in the park filled with music, right in the heart of Downtown Columbia. This event is presented as part of HoCo250, Howard County’s local initiative commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States. Through programs, events, and community partnerships, HoCo250 highlights the people, places, and stories that connect Howard County to our nation’s history.
