Nature in two Voices; Paintings by Chris Rapa and Jing-Jy Chen
Nature in Two Voices brings together two artists whose work shares a love of the natural world. Watercolorist Jing-Jy Chen offers graceful watercolor works on rice paper, where flowing line, restraint, and delicacy evoke the spirit of her subjects as much as their form. Her paintings feel contemplative and lyrical, rooted in classical technique and the beauty of suggestion.
In contrast, Chris Rapa’s oversized floral field paintings approach nature with rich color, expressive mark-making, and impressionistic energy. Her work celebrates abundance—flowers as immersive fields of light, movement, and color. Together, these two bodies of work create a conversation between stillness and exuberance, tradition and contemporary expression, revealing how the same natural subjects can inspire two deeply personal and resonant artistic voices.
